ಹಲಸಿನ ಕಾಯಿ ಪಲ್ಯ|Jackfruit Gravy|Kathal gravy|
Ingredients
Jackfruit -5-8 pieces cut into medium sized cubes.
Onion – 1 medium (chopped)
Tomato – 1 medium (chopped)
Green chilli – 1–2
Ginger – 1 tsp (chopped)
Garlic – 4–5 cloves
Grated coconut – 3 tbsp
fennel seeds– 1/2 tbsp
Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
Dry red chilli – 2
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
Garam masala – ½ tsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – few
Oil – 2 tbsp
Salt – to taste
Water – as required
Fresh coriander leaves – for garnish
Method
Dry roast coconut, onion,tomato,green chillies and dry masala , coriander seeds, cumin seeds & dry red chilli. Cool and grind to a smooth paste.
Heat oil, add mustard seeds & curry leaves.
Add onion, green chilli, ginger & garlic. Sauté till golden.
Add tomatoes, turmeric, chilli powder & coriander powder. Cook till oil separates.
Add ground masala paste and sauté well.
Add cubes jackfruit peices
Cook until soft
and water for gravy consistency.
Simmer for 8–10 minutes. Add garam masala.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
✨ Best served with rice, ragi mudde or chapati
