🥣 Chicken Oats Haleem (Ramadan Special) — Recipe in English
A healthy, quick haleem made with chicken, lentils, and oats — perfect for Iftar.
Nutrition (Approx per serving)
✔ High protein
✔ High fiber

✔ Good for weight control (if less oil used)

🧾 Ingredients
Lentils & Rice
2 tbsp Toor dal (Arhar dal)
3 tbsp Chana dal
2 tbsp Split urad dal (washed)
2 tbsp Split moong dal (washed)
2 tbsp Rice
➡️ Total ≈ ¾ cup (150–160 g)
Oats
2 cups instant oats (≈ 200 g)
For Chicken Base
1 kg chicken (leg & thigh pieces preferred) or mutton or red meat
150 ml oil
2 onions (thinly sliced, ~150–200 g)
1 large onion fried golden (for garnish/barista)
2–3 bay leaves
2-inch cinnamon stick
1 tsp shah jeera (or cumin)
5–6 green cardamoms
4 cloves
Spices
1½ tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tbsp coriander powder
2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
½ tsp turmeric
2 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
1½ tsp regular red chili powder
1 tsp roasted cumin powder
1 tsp garam masala (at the end)
Fresh Ingredients
1 cup yogurt (200–250 ml, not very sour)
½ handful coriander leaves
½ handful mint leaves
7–8 green chilies
4 cups water (1 liter)
Optional: 2 chicken stock cubes
Additional Water Later
2 cups boiling water for oats
1–1½ cups more as needed
Final Garnish
Fried onions (barista)
Fresh coriander & mint
Green chilies
Lemon juice
Desi ghee
Fried cashews (optional)
⭐ Restaurant-Style Haleem Tips
✔ Use leg & thigh pieces — gives better fibers
✔ Slow cook on low flame at the end (important for taste)
✔ Keep stirring so oats don’t stick
✔ Add fried onions + little desi ghee for authentic flavor
✔ Add lemon juice only at serving time
✔ Slightly loose consistency is best (it thickens later)

1 tbsp Split moong dal
1 tbsp Rice

1 cup instant oats (≈ 100 g)

70–80 ml oil
1 medium onion (thinly sliced)
½ cup fried onions (barista)
1–2 bay leaves
1 small cinnamon stick
½ tsp shah jeera or cumin
