Your Alienated Child Returned…Now What?

But contact doesn’t automatically mean reunification — and it definitely doesn’t guarantee a healthy relationship yet.

In this video, I’m breaking down why an alienated child may return and why you have to move slowly, stay grounded, and pay attention to motive. Because children can come back for many reasons — and not all of them are about repair.

Sometimes it’s a genuine awakening: maturity, perspective, conscience, remorse, and the ability to admit they were influenced.
Sometimes it’s a crisis: a breakup, a loss, an addiction spiral, a mental health collapse, a fight with the alienating parent, or a “mask slip” that shakes their reality.
And sometimes it’s a resource grab: money, housing, rides, childcare, access, stability — with no willingness to do the emotional work.

That doesn’t make your child “evil.” It means you’re dealing with a relationship that has been shaped by pressure, narrative control, loyalty binds, and reward systems — and you can’t rebuild that bond on a rush of relief.

We’ll talk about:
• The difference between contact and true repair
• Why “I miss you” isn’t the same as accountability
• What remorse actually looks like (and what it doesn’t)
• Why you should avoid instant closeness, oversharing, or over-giving
• How to stay warm without becoming naïve
• The pace that protects both your heart and the long-term outcome
