The controversial 21 billion shillings that Government guaranteed for businessman Hassan Basajjabalaba from the Central Bank has returned to haunt the city tycoon.
Ten years after Basajjabalaba received the money, Parliament has today learnt that the Ministry of Finance has once again bailed him out by paying the Bank of Uganda after the businessman failed to honor the debt.
The Secretary to the Treasury Keith Muhakanizi informed the watchdog Public Accounts Committee of Parliament that Basajjabalaba remains in possession of buildings used as collateral by the central Bank.
