Running in 80° heat and then 0-30° cold created a dramatic contrast in my pace, heart rate, and perceived effort. Using real Garmin data from nearly identical five-mile runs, I explain how heat builds fitness even when it looks “slower” on the watch — and why that matters for a 100-mile race.
