What are Tunicates? Latest Update | Drishti IAS English

Описание: Researchers recently described a 500-million-year-old tunicate fossil species, which suggests that the modern tunicate body plan was already established soon after the Cambrian Explosion. Tunicates are marine invertebrates, having history of atleast 500 million year ago. They are considered as a relative of vertebrates. Though both the species are way distinct, tadpole like features connect the two. Studying of Tunicates will give the idea of evolutionary history of vertebrates.
