This is the third part of the Hooked and Locked Crochet Along, or in short the HAL CAL, about the interlocking crochet technique. In this video of the practice piece I show how to crochet rows 1a and 1b. With the method I use here for the practice piece I weave the setup row of color 2 through the setup row of color 1. This way the pattern is correct right from the very first row.
If you find this method a little bit difficult still, I have an extra video for you with extra tips: there I show what other things you can do to better identify the loops that you have to work through, and how to take care that you work through the right squares of color 1, without shifting it.
In the previous video’s I gave a short introduction about this CAL and how to do the setup.
Interlocking crochet is a technique that works with 2 layers of filet crochet, that get interwoven through each other during crocheting, which makes nice patterns, that sometimes look totally different on the other side.
For this practice piece, and for the large blanket, I used Alize Cotton Gold.
On my website you can find more information and also an extensive tutorial with a lot of pictures. Go to https://www.thecraftsteacher.com.
In the next video I show how to crochet row 2 of this practice piece.
