Описание: Namaste FRIENDS and fellow yogis, welcome back to the YOGA CLUB~ I hope this finds you all well!

This latest upload is an intermediate, level II/III, vinyasa flow class inspired by the current Ashtanga Yoga asana sequence known as Primary Series. This class is intended for folks with a strong western yoga practice and a sincere awareness and practice of the concept of vinyasa, or, of breath and movement.

My intention with this sequence is to begin the process of bridging the gap between the modern western yoga practice and the traditional eastern yoga practice so that folks in the western schools will not miss out on the full potential of these postures and the science behind there sequencing and performance.

This style of practice leads the practitioner into an intentional construction of the poses that uses all parts of their bodies and puts a person on the path to achieving their full potential while experiencing yoga's full potential as well.

The traditional Ashtanga Yoga practice from Mysore India teaches three foundational elements as part of the performance of postures. They are the science of breath or pranayama, the science of gaze or dristi, and the science of core or bandhas.

By practicing yoga as a strength based alignment we are able to anchor and control all our movements so that we can open truthfully and safely while also becoming grounded and protected. If we can engage the body in this new way it will allow us to experience ourselves and this science of yoga fully and completely.

When it comes to backbends, inversions and the closing sequence, please remember to take the concept of breath and movement (vinyasas) as well as breath, gaze and core (pranayama, dristi and bhandas) with you so that you can practice these more challenging postures safely and with intention.
If you are not open enough, strong enough or comfortable enough to practice wheel, shoulder stand, headstand and /or full lotus yet, please consider practicing modified poses or even gentler poses like a western bridge pose for your backbend, a legs up or reclined L shaped pose for your shoulder stand, a modified downward dog on the forearms for headstand and a half lotus or seated cross legged pose for your full lotus.

I look forward to expanding our intermediate and advanced practices here at The Yoga Club so that we can go deeper into the traditional method and philosophy of The Ashtanga Yoga System.
