【This Is Nikujaga】Mom’s Classic Recipe Recreated to Perfection!
Serves: 2–3
Time: 25 min
Ingredients
250 g thinly sliced pork (komagire)
4 potatoes
1 onion
1 pack shirataki noodles
1 clove garlic
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
Seasoning
300 ml water
3 Tbsp sugar
5 Tbsp soy sauce
3 Tbsp sake
3 Tbsp mirin
Instructions
Leave the potato skins on (my personal preference) and cut into sixths.
Slice the onion into 8 wedges.
Heat oil in a pan and sear the potatoes until lightly browned.
Add the onion and garlic. When fragrant, pour in all the seasonings.
Before it comes to a boil, add the shirataki and pork.
Spread out the meat so it doesn’t clump together.
Skim off any foam that rises to the surface.
Cover with a lid and simmer gently over low heat.
Check occasionally to remove scum and keep the meat from sticking together.
Continue simmering until the flavors soak in. Done!
