In my final morning in Fukui, I headed back up north from the city to check out an art museum called Kanaz Art of Creation. It looked intriguing to me because of the outdoor use to have a lot of their exhibits. The way there seemed straightforward enough: a train ride and then a slightly lengthy walk. When I got near the endpoint of the walk, I noticed there was no road or pathway for me to go further. I tried to backtrack to see if any opening was around, but they were only past some caution signs with foot-level barbwire. It seems that this was a place that was properly accessible by car or if I was coming from the north side. Using public transportation, Google didn't know what was the proper way to get there.
And so what did I do? Well, walking over the wire was not difficult and I only needed to walk up a slight incline shortly after, so that's what I did. It indeed led me to the place, but it definitely was already inside of the outdoor exhibit area. Walking around further did lead me to the proper entrance, parking lot and all. It really was a place that has lesser tourism and so even Google doesn't have updated directions.
As for the place itself, it's a nice vast piece of land for people to walk around in nature and admire art sculptures at the same time. I started in what seemed to be the main forested area and they had some art pieces spread around. I took a look at the map and there were even more pieces laid further out. I didn't have much time before I had to head back to Osaka, but it was a nice time to have a walk in the beautiful forest on a beautiful day and to be able to see some work at the same time. Again, being in a quieter part of Japan was a real treat and I hope to check out another part that isn't as busy.
