Have you ever wished you had a tool to help you figure out areas of equity to further develop in your program, but everything is for K-12 programs or you didn’t know where to start? A group of us thought just that. We've adapted several tools to create an equity rubric for adult education classrooms and programs. In this session, we will introduce the rubric and focus on how we can use it as a tool to assess our curriculum.
Objectives:
Give one to two reasons why an equity rubric is needed in ABE
Identify people or organizations programs can use as resources in preparing to use the equity rubric
Use the rubric to analyze excerpts from popular curriculum such as Ventures, English Unlocked, and the Change Agent
Student Level: Low-literacy + Beginning ESL, Intermediate ESL, Advanced ESL, Beginning ABE, Intermediate ABE, Secondary ABE
