Hy-Flex instruction offers adult ESL and GED learners the flexibility to attend class either in person or online—without sacrificing rigor, connection, or progress. This panel explores how Hy-Flex teaching can be successfully implemented in leveled ESL and GED classrooms to increase access, persistence, and student achievement. Panelists will share the technology tools, daily routines, and instructional strategies that support simultaneous in-person and remote learners. Attendees will see concrete examples of how lessons are structured, how student engagement is maintained across modalities, and how instructors manage multilevel needs in real time. The session will also highlight practical tips for troubleshooting common challenges, such as attendance fluctuations, technology barriers, and balancing instruction for both groups of students. Participants will leave with adaptable ideas to create inclusive, flexible, and effective Hy-Flex classrooms that meet learners where they are—while keeping progress at the center.
Objectives:
-Identify key technology tools (e.g., video conferencing platforms, learning management systems, and digital collaboration tools) that support effective -Hy-Flex ESL and GED instruction.
-Describe classroom routines and structures that promote consistency, engagement, and accountability for both in-person and online learners.
-Apply practical strategies for managing leveled ESL and GED instruction in a Hy-Flex environment.
-Analyze real classroom examples to understand how Hy-Flex lessons are planned, delivered, and adapted.
-Implement actionable tips to address common challenges and improve student access, participation, and learning outcomes.
