This video details a single leg X overhead press sweep using double pants control to manage a heavy and stable opponent. From SLX, as the opponent establishes strong grips on top to maintain pressure and balance, we adjust our structure by removing the SLX foot from the hip and transitioning it down into a reverse De La Riva hook.
With the double pants grips still controlling the opponent’s base, we execute an overhead leg press, extending the legs to elevate the opponent and force their hands to post on the mat. This reaction lightens their weight and disrupts their balance, creating the opening to finish the sweep.
From there, we rotate to the side of the reverse De La Riva hook, guiding the opponent to the mat while maintaining control throughout the transition. The sequence is completed with a technical stand-up to secure top position, emphasizing the importance of structure, timing, and smooth transitions when attacking from single leg X against a strong base.
