Kalevala Training Center - Training Center that Empowers Women in Small Village in Kenya

Описание: Girls are still at a disadvantage compared to boys. Girls’ education is threatened by poverty, family attitudes and crisis situations. Cases of exploitation of girls, early pregnancies, forced marriages and cases of human trafficking remain common. In addition, in the daily lives of families, girls are placed more responsible for housekeeping, cooking, and caring for children, while boys can focus on their studies. In the evenings, the girls cook, do the dishes, and do the laundry, so the time available for homework is reduced. This leads to a decline in a girl’s school performance and even dropping out of school.

Kalevala Training Center project was started in April 2020. The aim of the project is to start and run a training center in Makongeni village, Kenya. The purpose of the project is to provide training opportunities for young girls and women. We focus on the most vulnerable girls, who are in the weakest position in the society.

The target groups of the project are teenager mothers, youth of poor families, school dropouts, and other girls who are lacking education, between the ages of 16 and 25. Girls who have completed primary or those, who have never joined school, are welcome to join the courses.
