Kalevala Training Center: Journey of Education and Empowerment

How to achieve sustainable change? In this documentary, we dive into the early days of the KTC project, the years that have passed, and the impact our work has created along the way. You will hear the voices of our teachers, former students, and Home Street Home’s representative Salim, as well as reflections from our partner Kalevala Koru, who has walked beside us on this journey.

The Kalevala Training Center is one of our largest projects. Over the past five years, more than 600 students have graduated from the Kalevala Training Center across three different programs. Many of them have gone on to establish their own businesses, secure employment, or continue with further studies. The project has also met the expectations of our partner, Kalevala Koru, for meaningful and impactful collaboration.

The Kalevala Training Center has been a success, yet our path of development does not end here. We continue to look forward, ready to take the next steps. At the same time, we are profoundly grateful to Kalevala Koru, whose support and collaboration have made all of this possible.

The documentary is produced by Home Street Home, a non-profit organisation that runs projects in the fields of education, well-being and health for children and young people in Kenya. Kalevala Training Center is located in the village of Makongeni in Kwale County. The organisation is registered in Kenya, Finland and Switzerland.
