This presentation provides an overview of the concept of programmatic assessment. Programmatic assessment is a concept that is increasing in popularity within medical education internationally, and is based on the use of assessment for learning, as compared to assessment of learning. In this presentation, Professor Schuwirth explains how programmatic assessment may be a solution to some of the common problems encountered with assessment in medical education.
