Children were evacuated from a Halloween party at a local restaurant this afternoon, after a fire broke out in the kitchen.
The fire, at Eclipse in Casemates, started at around six in the afternoon, and was put out less than a quarter of an hour afterwards. Nobody was hurt, with the restaurant management evacuating the premises as soon as the fire began. The Fire and Rescue Service was called, with two appliances attending; the fire, largely confined to the kitchen area, is reported to have started in the deep fryer.
Eclipse has extended its “deepest apologies” to its clients, adding it takes the safety of its staff and customers extremely seriously. It’s also apologised to the Gibraltar Students’ Association, as the fire damage, largely from smoke, means the GSA’s Halloween event, which was to be held at Eclipse tonight, has been called off.
