A flat was completely gutted after a large fire broke out at Portmore House, Glacis Estate this morning.
The City Fire Brigade (CFB) attended with two appliances - the Royal Gibraltar Police and Ambulance service were also at the scene.
No injuries were reported, and an investigation is under way; the CFB's Mark Anthony Celecia told GBC some children were playing with lighters when a matress caught fire. The fire spread and the tenants were unable to extinguish the flames.
The exterior of the building has suffered considerable smoke damage, but according to the CFB the structure has not been affected.
