Marc Diraison, playing Riley in the anime, does well despite being in a rough era for the TPCI dub. Diraison sounds the more friendlier, peaceful protector of the two, which makes sense given Riley’s ethical sensibilities. But he could also command authority and toughness when needed to. Overall, Diraison gives another solid performance as you’d expect from him.

His Masters EX voice: not too shabby either. He definitely sounds the more aloof and mysterious, and I will say his more youthful voice does fit the character a little more. One problem I have with him however, is that I find he is trying too hard to sound edgy, and it doesn’t fit the character as well. Riley does have the aloof, strong trainer element but he also had a borderline heroic quality to him. The anime made him come across as more friendly and trustworthy, and I don’t hear that as much in Masters EX. Which is unusual, as Masters EX normally excels at this with its more light-hearted tone. Still, the actor gives a good performance, but perhaps not the best fit for the character. I’m giving it to Marc Diraison as the definitive voice for Riley!
