In Pokemon Generations, Courtney was played by Sandy Fox. I’m not a fan of Fox’s take personally, she felt at least misdirected. Her voice was a little too high pitched for me, and the performance too expressive for a character who is meant to sound reserved and almost robotic. I will say Fox had the right idea, sounding cutesy and even creepy at times, but the execution is what let her down.
Overall, I guess Fox’s performance was serviceable, but a missed opportunity for me.
In Masters EX, she is played by Anjali Kunapaneni. A lot of Courtney’s Masters dialogue has her trademark pauses, and Kunapaneni does a fine job at conveying Courtney’s reserved and cunning yet childish and obsessive personality. Their delivery is a little too slow for me at times, but overall the performance was solid.
So while neither were perfect, Kunapaneni’s performance had more variation was more fitting overall for the character. For me, Anjali Kunapaneni is the definitive english voice for Courtney.
