This reading is pulled from the Chapter 4 ('Assemblage'), of my book 'Blackstar Theory: The Last Works of David Bowie', which is available now.
This is a fascinating track, one of the most intriguing in Bowie's late period (in my opinion). Fair warning, there *IS some Morrissey content here, I know he can provoke strong reactions for some people.
Also the narration ends a little abruptly - in my book I transition into a new subject at that point. Hopefully it still coheres as a track analysis here.
Again, this is certainly not intended to be a definitive reading of the song, just an assemblage of connections the way I see and hear it.
