The companion piece to 'Sue', this analysis is also from Chapter 9 ('Chaos and Chemistry'), from my book 'Blackstar Theory: The Last Works of David Bowie'. Like the Sue video, this focusses mostly on the ways the composition creates intensity and sensation.
I know there are various readings out there about what the lyrics might mean, but for me the most obvious and salient detail is the music's peculiar texture.
As ever, this was never intended to be a definitive reading of the song.
