Doner Kebabs or Shawarma are prepared in the same way. Cooked on a vertical spit, then thinly shaved and served on a flat bread or pita bread. Topped with onions, cilantro seasoned with salt, pepper, sumac and lemon juice. Basically Doner Kebabs originate from Turkey and Shawarma originates from the Middle East. But both have different spice flavorings.
Ingredients:
6 pieces of Chicken Thighs.
1 cup Yogurt.
1 tsp minced Ginger.
1 tsp minced Garlic.
1 tsp Salt.
1 tsp Garam Masala.
1 tsp Coriander powder.
1 tsp Paprika.
1 tsp Cumin seed powder.
Lemon juice.
Pita Bread or Flat Bread.
Salad. (Onion, Cilantro, Lemon juice, Salt, Pepper and sumac)
Lettuce.
Recipe:
Mix yogurt, minced ginger, minced garlic, salt, paprika, cumin seeds powder, coriander powder, garam masala in bowl. Add chicken and mix to coat it well. Marinate over night.
Cut and apple into half. Take one piece and cut off the edge so the half can stand steady. Foil the baking sheet. Place the apple in the middle of a baking sheet. Stick 2 skewers into the apple. Take a piece of marinated chicken and slide it down onto the wooden skewer. Repeat this for each chicken until you have a vertical stack of chicken thighs.
Preheat the oven to 390 F. Bake for an hour. Let it sit for 5-7 minutes once you take it out of the oven.
Thinly slice the chicken. Heat some pita bread. Serve it on the pita bread and top it with salad. ( Onion, Cilantro, lemon juice, salt, pepper and sumac)
