Описание: When Karen Nussbaum arrived in Boston in the early 1970s without a college degree, typist was one of her only job choices. Together with some coworkers, Nussbaum founded 9to5, an organization and later also a union to support and organize secretaries. Her work inspired her friend Jane Fonda’s iconic film, 9 to 5. Together, they changed the public’s notion of who and what constituted both the women’s movement and the labor movement. Nussbaum’s long career included a stint as Director of the Women’s Bureau at the U.S. Department of Labor (1993-1996).
