Hi, this is Scott with etrailer. Today, we're taking a look at and installing our Draw-Tite hitch for 2025 Mazda CX-5. One of the things I really like about this hitch is how it's a hidden crosstube design, so you're not gonna see any bar coming across. Everything's gonna be hidden behind the fascia on this one. Another nice thing about it is it's gonna have a really nice-looking gloss finish on it that's gonna hold up really well. It's gonna resist corrosion and it's gonna be really nice to keep away any kind of scratches or anything like that happening with it.
Another nice thing about this hitch is the only thing you're really gonna see is just the receiver portion hanging down. It's also gonna have a reinforced collar, so that's gonna make it pretty durable. This hitch is gonna have a 5/8 pin hole opening, so that's gonna have your pin that's gonna hold all of your accessories in place. Now this hitch will not come with a pin, so you may want to pick one up here at etrailer. Another nice option for these is a locking pin.
That's gonna lock any of your accessories that you have on here in place so nobody can take them off. So say you're at the bike trail or something like that and you have your nice bike rack on the back, you can lock that in place so nobody can take it while you're gone. This hitch is also gonna have a pretty heavy duty chain loop. It's gonna take either your clevis-style or your S-style loop, so that's gonna take care of any of your trailer towing needs. As far as measurements go, from the center of the pin hole out to the edge of your bumper, we're looking at right at around three and a half inches.
With that measurement, you'll be able to decide on if any of your accessories, like your cargo carriers or your bike racks that fold up will make any contact with the back of your vehicle. From the top of our tube to the ground, we're looking at right at around 12 inches. And with that measurement, you'll be able to find out if you need any rise of the shank of say your bike carriers or your cargo carriers. It'll also help you decide on if you need any rise or drop in any of your ball mounts. We're looking at a tongue weight rating of 675 pounds.
That's gonna be the weight pushing down on the lower portion of your tongue. So that's gonna be your bike racks with all your bikes loaded on top of it, or your cargo carrier loaded down with all of your gear. As far as trailer weight, you're looking at a gross trailer weight rating of 4,500 pounds. That's gonna be the weight of your trailer and everything that you have on your trailer itself. You already have this hitch or you plan on getting this one and you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave any comments below. As far as installation, this one is pretty straightforward. There isn't a whole lot to it, but if it's something you don't have time to do yourself, you can always take a look at our dealer locator and have something done for you locally. If it's something you feel like tackling yourself, stick around, watch our video, and we'll help you get it installed. To start our installation, the first thing that we want to do is get this little plastic panel underneath out of the way. And we're just gonna have a couple pop clips here. Go ahead and get those undone. Let's get a screwdriver under that and just pull those out. Now we're gonna have a little bit of a clip right here. Just wanna get a screwdriver behind that. Push those back. That one come right out for you. Now we'll just set this aside. We won't be reinstalling this. So now, we have two more clips. We have one here and one here. And these just basically support our bumper. So we're gonna get those removed. And that's just gonna give us a little more room to move our fascia around when we get our bumper slid up behind it. For our next step, we're gonna need to lower our exhaust. So what I'm gonna do is take a cam buckle strap and just get it mounted in a secure spot. That way I can tighten this up and that's gonna help support our exhaust. We're gonna have two isolators on each side. So what I like to do is just take a little bit of soapy water and spray down our isolators. And then after I do that, just wiggle our exhaust around, and just move your isolators. And that's gonna work some of that soapy water in. It's gonna make 'em easier to
