To effectively address growing globally urban flood risk, city-scale resilience building actions, including investments must be accelerated.
Recent years have seen the use of nationally facilitated local actions, such as the national governments conducting urban flood risk analytics or creation of a network of cities that learn from one another’s experiences to foster effective uptake of investments in resilience building.
By consolidating analytical, capacity building and implementation efforts, nationally facilitated local actions have the potential to scale up transformational changes and innovation needed to strengthen urban resilience.
The proposed session showcases a variety of approaches taken by countries to enhance policies, support, and incentivize risk reduction investments at the local level to mitigate flood risk in fast developing cities.
