Climate change affects urban areas and constitutes a threat to the population and the economy. New approaches, innovation, and proactivity of policy makers are necessary to better understand and tackle this growing challenge of managing current and future flood risk in urban areas. In this session, three proactive approaches and best practices for urban integrated flood risk management are presented.
ABOUT THE GLOBAL FACILITY FOR DISASTER REDUCTION AND RECOVERY (GFDRR) is a global partnership that helps low- and lower-middle-income countries better understand and reduce their vulnerabilities to natural hazards and adapt to climate change. GFDRR provides grant financing, technical assistance, training and knowledge sharing activities to mainstream disaster and climate risk management in national and regional policies, strategies, and investment plans.
