A 6 mile circular hike from Keld to Muker visiting waterfalls! wildcflower meadows and dramatic limestone ravine. Thisctrail has it all. it's an easy gradient suitable for families with the exception of a tiny bit of Gill crossing to reach Swinner Gill waterfall. This is optional and can be avoided but it offers superb limestone cliffs in a narrow ravine.
The hay Meadows of Muker are a must to visit in June with an abundance of wild flowers using traditional farming methods and no artificial fertiliser the hay Meadows offer food for the livestock and the 3 Meadows each have typical cow byres and stone walls with a single file trail and narrow gateways to enjoy the beautiful Swaledale valley.
The return route follows the opposite side of the River Swale and Catrake Force and Kisdon Force can be visited.
Parking is either at Keld on the side of the road or in the official donation car park in the village. Alternatively one can park at Muker, this is a quaint hamlet with a lovely bridge and river setting with options for refreshments at either hamlet.
Options to extend this walk to Gunnerside.
