Описание: ‘In Memoriam’ is a musical piece created in memory of my uncle Aart Noordzij (1948 – 2006) and my aunt Wil Noordzij (1931 – 2023). As brother and sister, they shared a close bond, which is why this musical composition consists of two parts that can be played together or separately.

This music was composed during my stay in Aruba in March 2024, as was the photograph I took there. Aruba held great significance for both of them. The pleasant warm climate and the white beaches were soothing. For this reason, I chose to create calm, warm, melodious music.

Part A (from the beginning) is in memory of uncle Aart. At (01:32 min.), I inserted the first two lines of a hymn (based on Psalm 27 – The Lord is my light…) that held meaning for him.

Part B (from 03:13 min.) is in memory of aunt Wil. It features the melody of the well-known 'My Way' by Frank Sinatra. This song resonates deeply with her life and was also played at her funeral.

This music is dedicated to my niece Marushca and my nephew Ismaël.

In memoriam is een muziekstuk dat gemaakt is ter nagedachtenis aan mijn oom Aart Noordzij (1948 – 2006) en mijn tante Wil Noordzij (1931 – 2023). Zij hadden als broer en zus een hechte band, en daarom bestaat dit muziekstuk uit twee delen die zowel aaneengesloten als afzonderlijk van elkaar gespeeld kunnen worden.

Deze muziek is gemaakt tijdens mijn verblijf op Aruba in maart 2024, evenals de foto die ik daar heb genomen. Aruba betekende veel voor hen allebei. Het aangenaam warme klimaat, en de witte stranden daar zijn weldadig. Om deze reden heb ik ervoor gekozen om kalme, warme, melodieuze muziek te maken.

Deel A (vanaf het begin) is ter nagedachtenis aan oom Aart. Bij (01:32 min.) heb ik de twee beginregels ingevoegd van een gezang (n.a.v. Psalm 27 – De Heer is mijn licht…) wat voor hem betekenis had.

Deel B (vanaf 03:13 min.) is ter nagedachtenis aan tante Wil. Hierin staat de melodie van het bekende ‘I did it my way’ van Frank Sinatra centraal. Dit past heel erg bij haar leven, en heeft ook geklonken bij haar uitvaart.

Deze muziek is opgedragen aan mijn nicht Marushca en mijn neef Ismaël.
