This Korean Spicy Chicken Wings Recipe was something I came up with when I was craving both chicken wings and BBQ. Korean Fire Wings are quick and easy and don't cost a ton either. And if you don't have a BBQ, no problem, there's oven instructions below.
Oven Method
Preheat oven to 420f. Add 1-2 drops liquid smoke to the marinade (optional). Place marinated wings on a parchment lined baking sheet removing any excess marinade. Cook for about 10 min or until crispy and an internal temperature of 160f is reached. Remove the wings and set the broiler to high. Return to the oven under the broiler and cook for 10-15 sec, flip the chicken over and repeat until the chicken has a slight bit of char and is extra crispy. Then toss in the glaze to finish.
Gochujang Marinade
1/2 Cup Soy Sauce
3 Tbsp Mirin
1/2 Tsp Freshly Cracked Black Pepper
1 Tbsp Dark Soy Sauce (Optional for colour)
3 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
1 1/2 Tbsp Gochujang
2 Tbsp Rice Syrup (Honey, Corn Syrup or Brown Sugar)
1 Tbsp Sake
3 Garlic Cloves
1 Tbsp Ginger
1 Small Onion
Gochujang Glaze
1/2 Cup Soy Sauce (Try to go for low sodium as it can get a bit salty)
1/4 Cup Mirin
1 1/2 Tbsp Honey (Rice Syrup, Corn Syrup or Brown Sugar)
1 1/2 Tbsp Gochujang
