Simple Moong Dal
-Servings -4 persons
Ingredients
-11/2 cup Moong dal/skinned split Moong gram
-2 cups water
-1/3tsp turmeric powder
-salt to taste
-1 tbsp butter
-1 tbsp coriander leaves chopped
-Wash and soak dal for half an hour by adding 2 cups of water, turmeric powder, salt to taste
-After half an hour pressure cook the dal for 2 whistles till dal cooked & soft
-Do not open the lid allow pressure to reduce naturally
-once the pressure settles down open the lid and stir, if the dal looks thick add very little water, transfer dal to a serving bowl
-Add butter and 1/2 tbsp coriander leaves mix and set aside
SEASONING
-1/2 tsp cumin seeds
-2 tbsp oil, 1 tbsp butter
-2 green chilies chopped
-6 garlic chopped
-small tomato finely chopped
-Heat oil +Ghee add garlic stir until they are slightly brown add tomatoes, stir & sauté till tomatoes soften become pulpy, now add cumin, dry spices cook until
you see oil releasing from the sides, add remaining coriander leaves
-Pour Tadka/seasoning over the dal
-Serve this Moong dal with steamed rice companied by a side vegetable/non-veg dish with some papad & Rita.
