This video shows you how to replace the front brake pads and rotors on your 2016-2022 Kia Sportage (QL). If you’ve noticed a steering wheel shake while braking or a high-pitched squealing sound, it’s time to service your front brakes. This 4th-generation Sportage is a great vehicle for DIY brake work, and we’ll show you how to get it done in about an hour with common garage tools.

Lifting & Safety: Why you must use jack stands and never rely solely on a floor jack while working under the wheel well.
Caliper Removal: Removing the two 14mm bolts and hanging the caliper with a bungee cord—never let it hang by the rubber brake hose.
Bracket & Rotor: Removing the 17mm bracket bolts and using an impact screwdriver to safely remove the rotor screws without stripping them.
Cleaning: Using brake cleaner to remove the protective shipping oil from your new rotors.
Lubrication: Pro-tip on greasing the slide pins and the contact points on the brake pad "ears" to prevent annoying brake squeal.
Compression: Using the old brake pad and a C-clamp to slowly compress the caliper piston back into its housing.
