DIY How to Replace Spark Plugs 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan

Описание: This video shows you how to replace the ignition coils and spark plugs on your 2009–2017 Volkswagen Tiguan. If your 2.0T engine is hesitating, misfiring, or your fuel economy has tanked, it’s usually time for a fresh set of plugs. This is a very common maintenance task for the EA888 engine, and we’ll show you how to swap them in about 30 minutes using a few basic tools.

This repair was performed on a 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan (First Generation / Limited) and applies to:

2009–2017 Volkswagen Tiguan (All trims with 2.0T TSI engine)

(Also applies to the 2018 Tiguan Limited)

Parts & Specifications
Spark Plugs: VW Part # 06K-905-601-B (NGK PLFER7A8EG) or 101-905-631-B (Bosch FR6KPP332S)

Ignition Coils: VW Part # 06E-905-115-G (The "Red" R8 coils are a popular performance upgrade!)

Spark Plug Gap: 0.032" (0.8mm)

Spark Plug Torque: 18–22 lb-ft (25–30 Nm)

Ignition Coil Ground Nut Torque: 7 lb-ft (9-10 Nm) — Caution: These small studs are easy to snap!

Service Interval: Every 40,000 to 60,000 miles (standard) or every 20,000 miles if your Tiguan is "tuned."

Tools you will need:
5/8-inch (16mm) Spark Plug Socket

10mm Socket (for the ground wire nuts and coil studs)

3/8-inch Drive Torque Wrench

6-inch Extension Bar

Small Flathead Screwdriver (to release the electrical connectors)

Dielectric Grease (optional, for the coil boots)

Gloves & Safety Glasses

Steps Covered:
Engine Cover: Pulling the plastic cover straight up off its four mounting pins.

Ground Wires: Using your 10mm socket to remove the nuts holding the ground wires to the coil studs.

Electrical Connectors: Using a screwdriver to gently pull the gray or black locking tabs back before sliding the harness off the coils.

Coil Removal: Pulling the ignition coils straight up. If they are stuck, a gentle "wiggle" or a coil puller tool can help.

The Old Plugs: Removing the plugs and inspecting the tips for signs of carbon buildup or oil fouling.

Installation: Hand-starting the new plugs to avoid cross-threading, then torquing to 22 lb-ft.

Reassembly: Reinstalling the coils, ground wires, and harness connectors until they "click."
