The Many Marriages of Nero Pt I: Mother Lover

Описание: Before dying violently at 30, the Roman Emperor Nero had managed to get married five times -- four of those times as a groom, and once, allegedly (while serving as Emperor of Rome!) -- in the role of a bride. On top of that, he was never one to go to bed alone, regardless of his marital entanglements at any given moment. The man's bedroom must've been a Roman Grand Central Station.

In this first video of our new series on Nero's various beloved, we dive into the fascinating cast of characters surrounding the early life of Rome's infamous fifth emperor before his succession to the throne. This is a particular look at perhaps Nero's truest love of all -- his brilliant and unscrupulous mother Agrippina -- as well as his reasonably normal Julio-Claudian childhood in the shadow of the throne.

You may want to note that things don't get really REALLY weird until the next video, but if you want to truly appreciate the full significance of the court skullduggery, Freudian dysfunction and unspeakable degeneracy that is to come--you should start here.

You may even find that, before the monster is full-grown, there's a somewhat likable (but rude) little boy wearing his shoes.

We have done our best to bring each of these colorful historical personalities to life as carefully, vividly and respectfully as possible.
