In this video I'll show you step-by-step how to create and save a preset that you can use when you import your images into Lightroom. This will enable you to make your raw photos look better, i.e., more like the jpeg previews you saw on your LCD screen. It will help you speed up your post production workflow and minimize editing time, so you don't have to make the same adjustments over and over, such as lens correction and camera calibration settings. This will make your images look more crisp and vivid instead of that dull flat look you often see with raw images before they're adjusted.

This is just a starting point to get your photos to look a little better. From there you can add your own adjustments to individual images. After creating a standard import preset I'll show you how to apply the preset during the import process.

When creating an import preset, you will want to avoid making local adjustments such as gradient or radial filters and spot removal because they are image-specific and you will probably not want them applied to every image.
