58th Colombo Scout Camporee CUB Day - Campers Experience 2023

Описание: The biggest event for Colombo scouts, the 58th Colombo Camporee is scheduled to be held from 8th to 10th December 2023 at the Vihara Maha Devi Park, with the participation of more than 12,000 scouts and scout leaders from the district. This time the theme of Colombo Camporee is ‘Scouting with Heart & Mind’.

The officials of the 58th Colombo Camporee met the Hon Prime Minister Dinesh Goonawardene at the Prime Minister’s office in Sri Lanka Parliament and pinned the Camporee Badge. Hon Prime Minister wished the organizers of the grand project and highly appreciated the tireless commitment of all who involved in developing disciplined leaders through Scouting at the needy time of the country.

The annual flagship event of Colombo Scouts kicked off on 7th December 2023 and will close on the 11th of December 2023 - The event was organized by the members of the Scout Branch, Colombo District, of the Sri Lanka Scout Association.

Colombo Camporee which is the flagship event of Colombo Scouts, is one of the most iconic events in Sri Lankan Scouting history which is rooted with rich Scouting traditions. The 58th Colombo Camporee 2023 held from 7th to 11th December 2023 will be declared open on 8th December 2023 by the Chief Guest of the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Nihal Ranasingha, is the Secretary to the Ministry of Education.

Commenting on 58th Colombo Camporee, the District Commissioner of Colombo Mr. Amil Abeysundara stated that “ Our aim of scouting is to train young people in character building to become self-dependent and useful citizens to the society and country. Scout training specially in a Jamboree is based on outdoor life linked with the environment and adventure; and skills useful in day-to-day life are taught to scouts. Scouts learn the need for discipline from the time they take the promise.”.

Organizing Commissioner of the 58th Colombo Camporee, Mr. Shabeen Ahamed who is also the Asst. District Commissioner for Colombo Scouts added that “This year’s Camporee that is held under the theme ‘Scouting with heart and mind” will be the a life long experience for Colombo Scouts.

The Organizing Committee has made all arrangements to host a successful Camporee experience for the Singithi, Cub, Junior, Senior and Rover Scouts of the Colombo District, where they can participate in a comprehensive non-formal educational program mixed with fun and adventure.
