World Scouting Founder's Day - 22 February – celebrating those who sowed the seeds of Scouting
Lord Robert Baden-Powell & Olave Baden-Powell championed youth empowerment all over the world, with Robert B-P named Chief Scout in 1920 and Olave B-P named World Chief Guide in 1930. The couple shared their passion for creating a better world, and they even shared a birthday: February 22nd ⚜ Feb 22nd is now celebrated as Founder's Day by the World Organization of the Scout Movement - WOSM and World Thinking Day by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. Scouting’s founder, Robert Baden-Powell, was a talented artist and enjoyed sketching and painting throughout his life. He supplied all the original drawings for his bestselling book ‘Scouting for Boys’ which provided inspiration for so many. His first introduction to scouting skills was stalking and cooking animals, and avoiding teachers, in nearby woods, which were strictly out-of-bounds for the school that he attended. He also played the piano and violin, was an ambidextrous artist of some talent, and enjoyed acting.
