*For the first 30secs* you’re gliding above the River Bann past the civil parish of Seapatrick in County Down (it’s on your left as you fly towards Banbridge). Filmed in late October, you can see the first signs of frost on the lawns of the houses along the river bank.

Winding its way from the southeast corner of Ulster to the northwest coast, via Lough Neagh, the River Bann is one of Northern Ireland's most significant rivers and its longest, stretching approximately 80 miles (130km) from its source in the Mourne Mountains. Historically, it was an important waterway for the linen, whiskey, and coal industries.

*For the last 30secs* you will be approaching Banbridge town, so named after a bridge was built over the River Bann in 1712. The town began as a coaching stop on the road from Belfast to Dublin but owes its success to flax and the linen industry, becoming the principal linen producing district in Ireland by the late 1700’s. Although the linen industry has greatly diminished in prominence, Banbridge still retains major producers, most notably Thomas Ferguson & Co. – weaving since 1854 and the last remaining of the old established Irish linen Jacquard weavers in Ireland.

The town's main street is very unusual, rising to a steep hill before levelling out. In 1834 an underpass was built as horses with heavy loads would faint before reaching the top of the hill. It is officially named 'Downshire Bridge', though locally it is often called "The Cut".
