Today's fire is a grim reminder that in summer, the risk is very real, with the Fire and Rescue Service asking the public to do their part to prevent any blazes.
It points out hotter weather, less rainfall and dry vegetation can be a recipe for disaster. Gibraltar is not exempt from risk.
It comes as the Met Office has confirmed that July was the hottest on record in Gibraltar.
The mean temperature for the month was 26.4 degrees Celsius - two degrees above the long-term average, and beating the previous record of 26 degrees recorded in July 1994 and 2015.
Sea surface temperatures around Gibraltar have also been well above average for much of the month, helping to keep temperatures high locally.
Met Office records go back to 1947.
