Tamiya's NEW Squash Van Build Series! - Manual Overview

Описание: It's time to start building the NEW Tamiya Squash Van on the NEW GF-02 Chassis!!

The Squash Van is the newest 4x4 monster truck offering by Tamiya. It is built on a brand new Chassis called the GF-02 and is a modified version of their GF-01 comical line of vehicles. The main difference is it has a more realistic wheel base than their comical GF-01 chassis and has the same wheel base as the CC-02L meaning that if you have a body on a CC-02, you can can put it on this chassis with no problem. In fact, because they mention this in their promo material I suspect that Tamiya have further plans with this chassis in the future.

One big feature that I was not aware of after seeing the first photos of this van is that this chassis can be built with 4WS (Four Wheel Steering). Very cool! I'm not sure which way I'm going to build this, 2WS or 4WS, but maybe you and I will know more at the end of this video :) Anyway, I believe we will be seeing more vehicles coming out on this chassis in the future.

One other big thing about the Squash Van is that it is completely GEAR DRIVEN!! The GF-01 chassis, the G6-01 chassis (Kong Head and King Yellow for example) and now the GF-02 chassis are completely driven by gears rather than drive shafts. That means that this kit comes with an incredible amount of plastic and brass bushings! DON'T USE THEM! - I can't stress this enough. With a kit like this you should upgrade to ball bearings BEFORE you start building this kit. If you decide to switch to ball bearings at a later date, you'll need to take the whole truck apart to be able to do that. So PLEASE ADD THE BALL BEARINGS FIRST. If you don't it will be an exercise in frustration!

NOW FOR THE FUN STUFF!

The R/C Community on Youtube is a fantastic group of people. The support from everyone has been fantastic and there are many channels that I follow because of the people who represent them. In fact, there are many people that I have begun to have meaningful conversations with outside of Youtube and it has been great to connect with so many people around the world.

As a way of supporting each other, many channels have created "Sticker Walls" where we send each other stickers and give shout outs to each other to support our growing channels. This has been a fantastic way of introducing people to new channels that we may not have even known about and can now start to follow.

Well a couple months ago I decided that I wanted to do something a little different and I came up with the idea of doing a Youtube Community Sticker Project where I would support other R/C channels by building a specific Tamiya vehicle that would represent our growing and supportive R/C Community. When the Squash Van was announced I knew this was going to be the vehicle of choice!

So throughout this series I welcome you to not only watch the videos to help you with your build of the Squash Van, but also as a way of introducing you to some amazing channels and people on Youtube. In the end, the van will be custom painted and decaled with the logos and stickers from these great R/C channels.

FOR THOSE R/C CHANNELS ON YOUTUBE THAT HAVE ALREADY SENT ME/OR PLAN TO SEND ME STICKERS....As this build series is now underway, some of the bonus content that I planned for those that participated early may not be available to you at this time. But have no fear...at the time of launching this video there is still time to get your channel stickers on the body which won't be completed for quite some time as a lot of planning/designing is needed for this to work as more stickers arrive.

In this first video, we'll get a quick overview of the manual and go over a must-have upgrade right from the start. If you're planning to build this van with me, I highly recommend obtaining a set of ball bearings – a decision you won't regret.
