Unboxing the NEW Tamiya Squash Van on the NEW GF-02 Chassis!!

It's finally here on the channel!! The NEW Tamiya Squash Van on the NEW GF-02 Chassis! I just LOVE the look of this van and I think this will be a real hit for Tamiya enthusiasts around the globe.

In many ways this chassis isn't new. There are a number of vehicles already out there based on the GF-01 chassis which is smaller. There's also a larger version of this chassis that the Tamiya Kong Head and King Yellow uses for example. Now we have the GF-02 which has a more realistic wheel base so it's quite possible that the Squash Van is only the first new vehicle that will end up using this chassis. In fact, they keep mentioning that if you have a CC-02 Chassis with the long wheelbase, the bodies for those will fit onto this van. Not sure why that's important but it makes me think that more is in the works for this chassis!

Couple of interesting facts:

1. The Tamiya Lunch Box was the first and only van kit that Tamiya ever produced. Well we can't say that anymore as now we have two!

2. As the GF-02 chassis is complete based on a geared transmission this kit is going to be bearing intensive. I always recommend that you switch out the plastic and metal bushings with a full set of ball bearings so that you can keep your kit running smooth and reduce the wear and tear. Well on this kit, as there are so many gears, I strongly recommend you doing this BEFORE you start the build. The way the kit is designed, if you purchase bearings at a later date, you'll need to completely rebuild the van in order to get into the gearbox. So word to the wise...build the kit WITH the bearings first! :)
