Dūn yāo is a spinal wave type qigong pattern that loosely translates as spine squat. The rise and fall creates a circulation that goes up the spine along the Du Mai (Governing Vessel) and down the front along the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel). Adding a Macebell massages the region of the diaphragm, further opens the chest, and serves as a way of practicing breath regulation.
