Services between Tattenham Corner and London Bridge usually operate every half hour with the same calling pattern with some early and late services stopping at more stations between London Bridge and East Croydon. All services are operated by Southern on the Tattenham Corner branch. In previous timetables there were additional stopping services between London Bridge and Coulsdon Town and peak time fast services to London Victoria however in the current timetable these do not operate. Between Purley and East Croydon this route runs on the slow lines on the Brighton Main Line sharing the route with longer distance Southern, Gatwick Express and Thameslink services as well as Uckfield/East Grinstead services after South Croydon. Between London Bridge and London Bridge there are many other services options including other Southern services and Thameslink service through to other London stations. Although London Overground services run alongside services on this route between Norwood Junction and New Cross Gate as part of the East London Line there is no direct interchange from most Tattenham services as Overground operate from West Croydon and Tattenham services run non stop from East Croydon to London Bridge.

The rolling stock on this route is usually 5 carriage class 377 Electrostar units. These are one of the newer Electrostar trains that Southern operates and allow 10 carriage services when combined with Caterham services between Purley and London Bridge. Class 455 units can work on this route if required. Other services on the route between Purley and London can be operated by class 171 Turbostar and 700 Desiro City trains.

This route is fully electrified throughout using 3rd rail DC electrification and almost all services on the entire route are EMU operated. This route is 2 track between Tattenham Corner and Purley then 4-6 track from Purley to East Croydon. Between East Croydon and London Bridge this route is 4 track with the final approach section to London Bridge being up to 12 track in places as this section is shared with other Southern routes as well as Thameslink and Southeastern services. All Southern services at London Bridge use the terminal platforms on the south side of the station.
