Prepositions: Below, under, above, over, underneath, beneath

Описание: 1. Below (नीचे – स्तर/लेवल से कम)
अर्थ: किसी स्तर, मात्रा, तापमान, रैंक, संख्या आदि से कम।
Use:
Level / standard / quantity
Physical touch ज़रूरी नहीं
Examples:
The temperature is below zero.
(तापमान शून्य से नीचे है।)
He lives below my house.
(वह मेरे घर से नीचे रहता है।)
2. Under (नीचे – ढका हुआ / सीधा नीचे)
अर्थ: किसी चीज़ के सीधे नीचे, अक्सर touch या cover का भाव।
Use:
Physical position
Protection / control
Examples:
The cat is under the table.
(बिल्ली मेज़ के नीचे है।)
The bridge is under construction.
(पुल निर्माणाधीन है।)
3. Above (ऊपर – स्तर से ऊँचा)
अर्थ: किसी चीज़ से ऊँचे स्तर पर, touch नहीं।
Use:
Level / rank / height
Abstract meaning
Examples:
The fan is above my head.
(पंखा मेरे सिर के ऊपर है।)
Marks above 90 are excellent.
(90 से ऊपर अंक उत्कृष्ट हैं।)
4. Over (ऊपर / पार / ढका हुआ / अधिक)
अर्थ:
ऊपर से ढका हुआ
एक तरफ़ से दूसरी तरफ़
मात्रा में ज़्यादा
Use:
Movement
Covering
Excess
Examples:
A cloth is over the table.
मेज़ पर कपड़ा ढका है।)
The plane flew over the city.
(हवाई जहाज़ शहर के ऊपर से गुज़रा।)
He is over 60 years old.
(वह 60 से अधिक उम्र का है।)
5. Underneath (ठीक नीचे – physical position)
अर्थ: किसी वस्तु के बिल्कुल नीचे, ज़्यादातर physical sense में।
Use:
Formal / descriptive English
Age, number के लिए नहीं
Examples:
Shoes are underneath the bed.
(जूते बिस्तर के बिल्कुल नीचे हैं।)
He is underneath 18 years. (गलत)
6. Beneath (नीचे – formal / moral sense भी)
अर्थ:
Physical: नीचे
Abstract: योग्यता से कम / शोभा के विरुद्ध
Use:
Formal writing
Moral / status sense
Examples:
The village lies beneath the hill.
(गाँव पहाड़ी के नीचे स्थित है।)
Such behavior is beneath him.
(ऐसा व्यवहार उसकी गरिमा से नीचे है।)
