I left California with one goal: Drive my custom Rossmonster Baja all the way to Newfoundland and the Atlantic Ocean. But before I could cross the Canadian border, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan had a surprise for me.
In this first episode of my Trans-Continental Expedition, I pick up the rig from the factory in Colorado after some upgrades and push East. The Great Plains were smooth sailing, but the real adventure started when I hunted for a wild campsite on the shores of Lake Superior.
The trail was tight, the sand was deep, and the location looked perfect—until the unseasonably warm temperatures triggered a black fly infestation that turned paradise into a nightmare.
