A few people recommended I write about Egyptian mythology, so I opted for the legendary Sphinx. In this particular take, I also delved into Greek mythology's version, which frequently depicted this legendary creature as a winged woman with the body of a lion (and occasionally a serpent's tail), which is the version I opted to depict here.

In Egypt, the sphinx was an integral part of architecture, built to guard sacred places such as temples and tombs, and representing divine protection and a pharaoh's strength. Over time, Asian and Greek cultures were also influenced by this figure, and the myth evolved from a benevolent figure to one far fiercer, with changes made to the appearance, such as wings, to convey that. Today, the sphinx is commonly associated with telling riddles, and devouring those who fail to answer correctly, as is famously told in the Greek tale of Oedipus.
