WENDIGO – The Frozen Hunger
The wind screamed across the frozen tundra, carrying with it the faint cries of the lost and the scent of snow-covered decay. Among the skeletal pines, a shadow moved, impossibly tall and emaciated, its skin stretched tight over jagged bones. Hollow eyes glowed like dying embers in the darkness, and a cruel, jagged grin revealed teeth that had tasted human flesh.
Once, he had been a man. Once, he had a family: a wife with warm laughter, a daughter with eyes like the summer sky, a son whose hands could build and create. But hunger had whispered in the darkness, an insidious voice born of frost and famine. That night, beneath the cruel glow of a full moon, he had broken.
He killed them. Every last one. The taste of their flesh, the warmth of their blood, seared into him an unholy hunger he could never forget. And the tundra took him. The winter winds stripped away what remained of his humanity. His bones grew long, his fingers sharp, his mind twisted with endless craving. He became a monster, a Wendigo, cursed to roam the icebound forests, eternally ravenous.
Now, he stalks the frozen pines, moving silently through the snow, following any warmth, any sign of life. Travelers vanish without a trace. Hunters, drawn by curiosity or greed, find only the echo of despair, the cracking of frost-covered branches, and the faint, mocking whisper:
"The hunger never dies… the hunger always finds you."
Legends say that when the moon rises full and pale, the Wendigo’s shadow stretches across the snow, stretching into the hearts of men. Its eyes burn like coals in the dark, seeing into your fears, your sins, your greed. And if you linger too long in the forest, it will claim you too, adding your warmth to its eternal feast, leaving nothing but bones for the wind to scatter.
The forest itself seems to shiver in terror, knowing what stalks beneath the ice and snow. The Wendigo does not sleep. It does not rest. And it is never alone in its hunger.
The cursed figure waits, patient, eternal, a warning to all who dare defy the frozen law of nature: greed feeds monsters, and the Wendigo never forgets.
