Join us as we head into the Colorado mountains in search of our Christmas tree. Since moving to Colorado, this has become a meaningful family tradition, less about finding the perfect tree and more about slowing down, getting outside, and spending time together in the woods.
This video was filmed along Lost Park Road 56 near Jefferson, Colorado and features scenic drone footage as we explore the forest, wander through the trees, and eventually find our Christmas tree. The day wraps up with a long, cinematic drone shot of us driving back through the mountains, taking in wide-open views and a winter sunset.
There’s something incredibly rewarding about doing something this simple. Whether it’s finding a tree or just walking through the woods, it’s a free and peaceful experience that reminds me why I love being outdoors so much. No rush, no noise, just fresh air, quiet moments, and time well spent.
About Christmas Tree Permits:
Many National Forests allow families to cut their own Christmas trees with a permit. This practice helps with responsible forest management by thinning overcrowded areas and supporting healthy forest growth, while also encouraging people to responsibly enjoy public lands. Permits are typically inexpensive, limited in number, and help ensure this tradition can continue for years to come. Always check local Forest Service rules before heading out.
