Training until ‘failure’ to me, is when people try to push beyond muscular exhaustion and grind through too many extra repetitions with bad form because they either want to reach a certain number of repetitions or they believe that’s how they will make the best gains.
But unfortunately, or fortunately, training to failure is madness is because you can actually achieve better results from doing less. By sacrificing good form to grind out those last few ugly reps, you’re ripping yourself off from maximum gains.
It’s wiser to ensure that once you can no longer perform the exercise with correct technique using the correct muscles, then you should stop that exercise, rest and let your muscles have the chance to adapt to the new stimulus allowing these muscles (or bones, tendons, other organs) to really capitalize on supercompensation … but that concept is for another video.
Now I am not saying that you should never train hard, or push you limits in training, NO. I’m merely saying don’t chase severe pain/ugly reps at the expense of good form and more functional results.
