The Ribble Way is actually a 72 mile long distance walking route in Lancashire and Yorkshire Dales National Park. It follows the River Ribble from near Preston to its source on Cam Fell Yorkshire Dales. (Apparently usually walked in 7 stages.) We actually followed a short section from another guide of 'Walks with Taste', picked up from our holiday caravan accommodation near Gisburn.
Although short the most challenging parts were through a woodland with a deep ravine drop and heavy undergrowth. But the worst stretch was returning back along the A59 road with heavy noisy traffic. Despite wading through further long grass I noticed an unexpected abundance of wild life along side the noisy A59 road.
Finishing back at Stirk House, where parked, for a relaxing drink/ bite to eat, where we have often visited before just to indulge in their delicious afternoon teas.
